About the Artist

I am a fine art and commercial photographer based in Vermillion, South Dakota, where I am currently completing my BFA in Photography with a minor in Art History at the University of South Dakota.

My relationship with photography is split into two distinct passions: creating deeply personal, conceptually driven artwork and helping people capture the beautiful, fleeting chapters of their everyday lives. Whether I am working meticulously with alternative darkroom processes or guiding a family through a sunlit portrait session, my goal is always to treat the final image as a tangible, meaningful object—something with presence, weight, and lasting value.

Commercial & Portrait Work

Through Rose Photography, I specialize in bringing imaginations to life with stunning portraiture. My commercial practice is built around versatility, storytelling, and an eye for natural light. I offer a range of tailored services designed to meet your individual needs and budget, including:

  • Authentic Portraits: Timeless family photos and individual portraiture that highlight your genuine self.

I love collaborating closely with clients to deliver beautiful, unforgettable images that you will cherish for years to come.

Fine Art Practice

Outside of my client work, my studio practice delves into the space between the natural and the supernatural. My art focuses on religious iconography, alternative photographic chemistry, and the physical presence of the printed object. Artist Statement

My work starts with the act of looking—a slow, intentional gaze demanded by analog photography. Utilizing film and alternative processes, I am drawn to how light physically leaves its mark on a surface through chemistry and time. This deliberate patience resonates with my artistic focus: religious icons, sacred rituals, and the profound ways a material object can carry generations of belief, memory, and longing.

I approach these ideas sculpturally. By building, layering, and assembling my photographs, I treat the final image less like a window and more like a tangible object with its own weight, texture, and presence. This tactile process invites a central question: what truly is an icon? Is it a picture, an object, or a meeting point between the viewer and something beyond?

Driven by this curiosity, my images dwell on the threshold where the physical world and the unseen meet—in the play of light through dust, the quiet mystery of a chapel, or a familiar object suddenly charged with unspoken meaning. Rather than documenting or explaining belief, I aim to keep its beautiful tension alive, inviting viewers to stand at the edge of the natural and the supernatural. Ultimately, my practice is a form of quiet devotion to light, material, and the questions that resist easy answers.
